Just a month past Z’s second birthday as a standalone New Zealand company operating under its own brand, independent research released today shows the new Kiwi brand is still the country’s most preferred fuel retailer, for the second year in a row.
The research was conducted by Colmar Brunton for Canstar Blue and covered 2,500 consumers. The paint was barely dry on Z’s brand roll-out last year when it outperformed the rest of the industry, scoring five star ratings in terms of overall satisfaction, service, range of other items, appearance and cleanliness and facilities.
Z Chief Executive Mike Bennetts said he was delighted to have repeated the same results for the second year in a row and said the findings were consistent with Z’s own research.
“We launched the Z brand to better reflect our local ownership and our commitment to deliver real value for our customers in the areas that matter most to them.
Over 300 rebranded sites including service stations, truck stops, aviation pumps and 75 completely refitted stores later, Z is now one of the most recognised brands in New Zealand and the company is obviously doing something right to have been voted most preferred fuel retailer for the second year.

“These results lie in the fact that before we did anything, we asked New Zealanders what they wanted from a New Zealand fuel company; we then developed a brand and an offer which was all about our customers.”
Mike said Z was committed to building a genuinely world class company, and will continue to listen to its customers to achieve this.
“We’re really grateful for the support and feedback of our customers, and we continue to work on improving their experience with us.
“So please keep giving us feedback on what we’re doing well and not so well, and what more you’d like to see from Z,” said Mike.
