Z today opened New Zealand’s newest service station in Manukau Road, Epsom, creating 20 new jobs and supporting charitable groups to help meet local community needs.
As well as a four lane (eight pump) Z service station, the site includes New Zealand’s first Rub-a-Dub retro-style car wash – an apt addition to the site where cars once lined up on the street to use New Zealand’s first ever car wash.
Between the service station and the car wash, about 20 jobs are being created for Epsom.
The new Z service station is an almost $2.5 million development, built with speed and sustainability in mind, says Z GM Retail Mark Forsyth.
“We’ve designed it to be one of the most modern and speedy service stations in the city, with all three grades of fuel on all pumps, stretchy hoses that mean you can fill from both sides, and optional pay-at-pump (which will be available in the next few weeks).
“To ensure it operates sustainably, we’ve incorporated the latest generation chillers using 30% less power, as well as energy efficient LED lighting and forecourt recycling.
“We also wanted to keep staff and customers as safe as possible, so we’ve installed the latest technology high definition, multi-camera CCTV system.”
Z Epsom will support local schools and community groups through Z’s Good in the Hood programme. Customers can vote over the next month on how $4000 from Z is shared between four groups: Radio Lollipop, Sweet Louise, Mercy Hospice, and The Parenting Place.
Z Epsom retailer John Lambert says the local team is looking forward to working in partnership with the community.
“It’s great that we’re now in the Epsom neighbourhood and able to support this community, and we’re looking forward to doing lots of good in the hood,” Mr Lambert said.
