Z has opened New Zealand’s newest service station in Hamilton today, creating 12 new jobs and supporting schools and charitable groups to help meet local community needs.
Z Stadium, in Mill Street, had a community opening befitting its focus on working with the community. Children from Whitiora School and Whitiora Kindergarten performed on the new forecourt, and the Life Education Trust’s Harold the Giraffe cut the ribbon and poured the first fuel.
Z Stadium will support local schools and community groups through Z’s Good in the Hood programme. Customers can vote over the next month on how $4000 from Z is shared between four groups: Whitora School, Whitiora Kindergarten, Life Education Trust and Hamilton Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Z General Manager Retail Mark Forsyth said Z Stadium has been built with speed and sustainability in mind.
“It’s a $3.5 million development and we’ve designed it to be one of the most modern and speedy service stations in town: with eight lanes, all three grades of fuel on all pumps, stretchy hoses that mean you can fill from either side and optional pay-at-pump”.
Mark says the new Z Stadium has also been designed and built with other innovative features such as:
Waikato Z Retailer Selwyn Cook says the local team is looking forward to working with the community.
“It’s great that we’re now in the Whitiora neighbourhood and able to support this community, and we’re looking forward to doing lots of good in the hood,” Mr Cook said.
Z Stadium is the third new Z site to open this year – following Z Porowini in Whangarei and Z Epsom in Auckland. As Z continues to roll out its national network investment programme, another two new Z sites will open in Auckland in the next couple of months, in Onewa Road, Northcote, and Oteha Valley Road, Albany.
