Z is a proud supporter of Trees That Count, a conservation charity working with New Zealanders to plant millions of native trees across Aotearoa.
Native trees don’t just look good, they reduce our impact on climate change, provide a home for our unique wildlife, restore our waterways and make us all feel good!
We partnered with Trees That Count in 2017 as part of our commitment to do better when it came to sustainability and combatting climate change. Since then we have supported 64 community planting groups across the country, funded the planting of 56,676 trees (and counting) and supported new New Zealanders put down their roots by creating their very own forest in Queenstown.
A thousand native trees were planted by Z Energy, Trees That Count, the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust and the local community in Queenstown to create a National Welcome Forest – Te Waonui a Tāne – a symbol of manaakitanga for new migrants.
The forest is intended to remain permanently, creating a place of beauty for all locals and visitors while reducing the impact of carbon emissions and supporting a home for native birds and insects.
