So how does our fuel get to you? Where you need it, when you need it?
Almost all of the fuel that Z Energy sells in New Zealand comes from overseas. Around 70% of this Fuel is made from crude oil sourced from the Middle East and Far East. Z purchases this crude from overseas suppliers and ships it to New Zealand. The crude oil is refined into fuels at New Zealand’s only refinery, operated by Refining NZ Ltd at Marsden Point near Whangarei. For information on the refining process, visit the NZRC’s learning centre.
Z purchases the other 30% of fuel we sell to you from Refineries mainly in Singapore, Korea and Japan, and ships it to NZ.
There are four ways that we get fuel from the NZ Refinery to storage terminals:
The fuel we sell to you is held at storage tank terminals all around New Zealand: Marsden Point, Auckland, Wiri, Mount Maunganui, Napier, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, Lyttelton, Christchurch (Woolston), Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff.
Our contracted haulage company Hooker Pacific runs the road tankers that take our fuel from each of these terminals and deliver it to our service stations, truck stops and airports and directly to our commercial, aviation, bitumen and marine customers.
Z Energy’s logistics team co-ordinates these 40 or so road tankers that work around the clock, ensuring you can buy the fuel you need when you need it.
And that’s how it’s done. Simple really!
