COVID-19 Update

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about what we’re doing to keep New Zealand fuelled up, safely through COVID-19. The situation is constantly changing, so please visit regularly for new updates.

Z Energy has been advised that a customer who is now a confirmed positive COVID-19 customer visited its Z Tūrangi service station on Sunday 20th September 2020 between approximately 11am and 11.15am. For more information, see Z's news update.

Alert Level 2

You can trust Z to have your health front of mind. Here’s what you can expect at Level 2:

Our stores, including our bathrooms, will be open and we have plenty of fuel and shop supplies so please continue to shop normally. Please be kind to our teams and do your part by following any instructions they have; they’re working hard to deliver what you need safely.

We've increased the level and frequency of cleaning high touch areas including our Pay at Pump terminals, EFTPOS terminals and pump nozzles to help keep you safe on site.

Please maintain 2 metres physical distancing at all times. We will have markings in store to help you do this. We also have perspex screens at all counters and our staff will be wearing face masks in Auckland.

Hand sanitiser is available on our counters and QR code posters for the NZ COVID Tracer app are displayed in-store for contact tracing. To help protect our staff and other visitors, please don’t visit us if you are not feeling well.

You can also use Pay at Pump if you don’t want to go inside the store, and if you’re near a Fastlane site, you can pay with Fastlane too. You can also try Sharetank, to be able to pay with the Z App

Our fresh food and Z Espress coffee will be available — we will be using our handy tool to apply coffee lids without any physical contact. You can also pre-order your coffee through the Z App to speed up your visit. We have also returned to business as usual and are accepting reusable cups again.

LPG is also an essential service we offer, so if you need to swap a bottle, then come and see us. 

Payment options to reduce contact

Pay at Pump — Fuel up and pay at the pump. Before you lift the pump handle, simply insert your card and follow the instructions on screen.

Contactless payments — You can use contactless payment at both the night windows and when you pay at pump.

Fastlane — Download the Z App and you can register your vehicle for Fastlane. Add your Visa or Mastercard issued debit or credit card or Z Business card, and licence plate number, and you’re ready to go. Simply drive onto any of our Fastlane-enabled service stations and once our camera detects your vehicle you can fuel up and drive away. Find a Fastlane site near you.

Sharetank — Download the Z App to use Sharetank, a tool in the app that finds the cheapest fuel within a 30km distance of your location and allows you to buy up to 1000L and store it in a virtual tank in the app — you just need to have your Visa or Mastercard issued debit or credit card details saved. You can then redeem the fuel at any station, anytime. During a time like now when you may want to limit the surfaces you touch, Sharetank allows you to pre-buy fuel, so that the only surface you need to touch is the pump handle. You can also share the fuel in your virtual tank with up to five people (that’s the ‘share’ bit!) — so if you’ve got whānau or friends struggling a bit financially right now you can show your support by adding them to your Sharetank.

Our people are the heart of our business, and we are proud of their work to ensure our fuel supply is secure and our service stations are safe. We’re taking every precaution we can to keep our staff safe.

For everyone’s safety our staff will be keeping a minimum of 2 metres distance from others, and will also wear masks where required.

If you're in need of fuel, you can continue to get your everyday 6c per litre discount with Pumped when you swipe your Z AppFlybuys or Airpoints™. Plus, we're continuing our Super Pumped days.

Due to the recent changes in Covid-19 alert levels, we understand that some drivers will be spending less time on the road. As a result, we have an update on Pumped stacked balances and the Z and Caltex Fuel Discounts with Flybuys.

Pumped stacked balances

Do you have a Pumped stacked balance due to expire on the 31st of August? Don’t worry, we’ve extended all Pumped stacked balances due to expire at the end of August, so they will now expire at the end of September.*

* Stacked Pumped discounts earned between 1 July and 31 July 2020 can be used until 11:59pm on 30 September 2020. Full Pumped terms and conditions apply, see pumpedrewards.co.nz/tandcs.

Z and Caltex Fuel Discounts

If you have a Pumped and Z & Caltex Fuel Discounts due to expire on 31 August 2020, this has now been extended and will expire on 30 September 2020 unless used prior.

  • What is Z doing to keep me safe?

    At Alert Level 2, our doors are open with a range of controls in place to keep you safe. During this time, it's essential to maintain physical distancing to protect our customers and staff. You will see clear markings on the floor to help people stay 2 metres apart. Trading hours for the stores may differ from normal hours. We will have clear signage on-site to help you navigate, and a team member will be available to help whenever practical. Pay at Pump is also available.

  • Will I need to scan the NZ COVID Tracer QR code when I visit a site?

    QR code posters for the NZ COVID Tracer app are displayed in-store. We highly recommend you scan the QR codes for contact tracing purposes.

  • What are my payment options if I want to reduce contact?

    We have several payment options to help you minimise contact. We have Paywave in-store or you can also use Pay at Pump if you don’t want to go inside the store. Download Z App to check out how Z’s online services, such as Fastlane and Sharetank, can make paying for your fuel easy and minimise the contact you have with other people and high touch areas.

  • Are you still accepting cash?

    Although we are accepting cash, we strongly encourage you to avoid using cash payments to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19. This is something the World Health Organisation has flagged as being an important public health measure during this time. At Z, you have multiple contactless payment options, including Pay at Pump, Sharetank and Fastlane in Z App.

  • Is hand sanitiser available for customers to use?

    Yes, hand sanitiser is available at all stations for customers to use. You'll find it inside on the counter. You can also use the bathroom to wash and dry your hands.

  • Are you accepting reusable cups?

    At Alert Level 2, we have returned to business as usual accepting reusable cups.

  • Are your toilets open for customers?

    Yes, our toilets are open for customers during Alert Level 2.
