We think E-road, a New Zealand transport technology and services company, can really add value to our customers’ businesses through its ability to provide technology to help keep Road User Charge (RUC) compliance costs down. One of our customers, Calcon Limited, has seen first-hand how much money can be saved through their relationship with Z and E-road.
Fleet Manager Martin Paardekooper was getting frustrated with the long time it took to apply for a RUC and the amount of money it cost the company through people’s time. He decided to do some research to find a better way.
After much research, E-road and their ERUC technology were clear winners and the technology has already paid for itself. When you consider elements like the time it takes to do the administration for a RUC per month, mechanical hubo replacement and off road mileage administration costs, the ERUC works out as costing about the same as Martin’s current process. However, the real benefits for Martin of E-road’s technology are things like improvement in accuracy, total compliance at all times and being able to monitor where his fleet are and how much fuel they’re using. And there are other things too, like being able to monitor actual vehicle speeds and idle times. These elements enable improved operator and driver behaviour and an ability to see alerts for service requirements.
