New drink driving limit welcomed

New changes to the New Zealand breath alcohol limit took effect on 1 December, lowering the breath alcohol limit from 400 micrograms per litre of breath to 250mcg for adult drivers.

We’re especially pleased to see the reduced limit, due to the effort we have put into educating our people and supporting the change publically. Late last year, Z provided a submission for the drink driving limit change.

As a New Zealand company that plays a major role in helping New Zealanders travel on the road and contracts nearly 100 heavy vehicle drivers to transport 1.72 billion litres of flammable liquid up and down the country, we have welcomed this change.

Road safety is one of Z’s most significant risks, and one we’re faced with every day. So, as an employer and a New Zealand company, we’re proud to see a much needed change and believe the new limit has the potential to help prevent injuries and help ensure the safety of our people, customers and all road-travelling Kiwis.

As a company that is committed to Zero Harm, we will continue to lead the way on the things that matter around all things safety. And, as always, we welcome your feedback on how you think we can improve the safety of our operations and yours.
