20/02/2014 - Z updates
Once again in 2014, Z is giving more than $1 million to neighbourhood groups and soon you’ll be able to help decide how it’s shared.
As a Kiwi company, our customers have told us they want us to be a force for good and give back to our local neighbourhoods, supporting the things that matter.
So this year, every Z station in New Zealand is giving away $5,000 to local groups that help people who need it. With 211 sites, that’s more than $1 million to do Good in the Hood!
Every Z station will support four local groups who will receive a share of $4,000 based on the number of customer votes they get. A further $1,000 per Z station has also been set aside for Z’s local retailers to support other neighbourhood projects and initiatives throughout the year.
Each neighbourhood group is also in line to receive even more funding if they’re one of the ten groups nationwide that receive the most votes in our online Token Hunt (at z.co.nz/tokenhunt) where visitors can hunt for virtual tokens, as well as score some great instant prizes!
We received more than 4,000 applications for the programme in October last year, and had a tough job narrowing it down to just four groups per site. Ultimately, our local Z station retailers selected the groups that best met our Good in the Hood criteria:
• being active in the local neighbourhood around a specific Z station
• being focused around helping people who need it, and
• being for a specific project or to fulfill a specific need.
How will voting work?
From 1-31 March, every customer making a purchase (excluding cigarette only purchases) will be given a token to use to vote for the local organisation they wish to support via the voting units on site.
