Europcar Mobility Group, Z Energy and the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport Collaborate to help drive e-mobility in Wellington
Europcar Mobility Group (Europcar), Z Energy (Z) and the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) are proud to announce a collaboration aimed at advancing e-mobility solutions at NZCIS’ campus in Wellington, New Zealand.
NZCIS offers a unique campus facility in Wellington which brings together sport, commercial, conferencing and accommodation at one site. With their aim to make it easier for athletes, corporate groups and other campus visitors to choose more sustainable transport options, NZCIS Director Jamie Tout says a partnership with Europcar and Z made good sense.
“Individually we are all working to support our own customers through the energy transition. For example, Europcar is unlocking greater access to EVs by growing their rental fleet in New Zealand, and Z is continuing to support EV customers by investing in public charging infrastructure across select Z service stations and charging solutions for business customers in their homes and workplaces. This partnership recognises there are synergies in what we are doing, and there is real value in collaborating to offer a seamless experience for the customers we share.
“It is very clear that people are searching for more sustainable transport options and when it comes to teams, these are large groups of people, so it’s even more important we look to reduce our footprints and tyre tracks. We were looking out for partners who have a strong connection to New Zealand. In Europcar and Z we feel we have that team of people who are in the pursuit of excellence and change, it’s the right fit!” continues Jamie.
With this partnership, there are currently six Z EV chargers installed at the Upper Hutt campus, and Europcar is providing an Electric Vehicle for NZCIS to utilise.
“This partnership is about making it easy for customers to choose and charge an EV when they are visiting the campus. In practice this means international athletes or other groups visiting NZCIS can hire an EV from Europcar’s rental fleet at a discounted rate, access Z’s conveniently located onsite EV chargers, and be provided a convenient billing solution for their onsite charging as it’s incorporated into the customer’s overall NZCIS bill” says Z’s Head of Energy Business Solutions, Rebecca Wilson.
Caddie Kerr, Head of Europcar Mobility Group New Zealand, highlighted the significance of the partnership stating: “Europcar is dedicated to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions that benefit both communities and the environment. Our collaboration with Z and NZCIS highlights our commitment to promoting flexibility, sustainability, and accessibility in mobility services. We are thrilled to be offering NZCIS visitors bespoke rates to support their travel and training, with a range of vehicles available to support any mobility need. This partnership presents an exciting opportunity to combine our expertise and resources, driving positive change and delivering innovative solutions for our customers.”
NZCIS stands as a symbol of innovation and excellence in sports and community engagement. With its world-class facilities catering to conferencing, accommodation, and commercial office space, NZCIS serves as a central hub for athletes, community groups, and corporate entities seeking exceptional experiences.
The partnership forged with Europcar and Z underscores NZCIS's steadfast commitment to sustainability and inclusivity, whilst also resonating strongly with Europcar's mission of advocating for EV adoption and reducing carbon emissions, and Z’s commitment to continue to provide the energy New Zealanders need today, whilst also investing in low carbon initiatives that help support their customers through the energy transition.
