Z Energy (Z) was honoured to take home the 2023 HR Institute of New Zealand (HRNZ) Supreme Award and the Innovation Award last night for its leadership in HR practice.
Helen Sedcole, Z’s Chief People Officer, says winning these awards is recognition of the hard work of Z’s people and the initiatives they take to be a leading organisation in Aotearoa.
“As a business, we continue to strive to do what is right by our people, be that through what we take a stand on, our working environment or our employment practices.”
The HRNZ Awards recognise professionals and organisations leading meaningful change and best practice across Aotearoa.
Z was a finalist in two categories – Innovation and Organisational Change & Development. Successfully winning in the Innovation category set them up to then go on and win the Supreme Award at the end of the night.
“We entered the Innovation category for our ongoing work to close the gender pay gap at Z. Alongside our goal of closing this by FY24, we’re also working to achieve more equitable outcomes for women both now and in their retirement, long after they’ve left Z.
“Our initiatives to support greater salary transparency and enhance our KiwiSaver offering to benefit those who work part time or take time off for parental leave are actions we are really proud to have taken, and proud to be recognised for,” continues Helen.
The HRNZ Supreme Award is awarded to the organisation showing greatest overall leadership in HR practice. This industry acknowledgement is a huge achievement for Z, and the team were proud to take this home as further recognition of their efforts in this space.
“We've learnt a lot from participating in the application process and we’re humbled to be part of a community of HR people and organisations doing great work in Aotearoa,” says Helen.
